I’m happy they’re all lovey-dovey (rather, lovey pigeony), but I have to say that every time they locked lips (I mean beaks), it reminded me of two arm wrestlers going palm-to-palm for another friendly bout. Good to see that both birds are winners; no losers here, including the fortunate photographer — and her blog readers! Thanks for providing a feel-good moment, Ingrid. Makes me believe all’s right with the world. :-) )))

Love the video! How beautiful pigeons are with their iridescent feathers – And could there be a sweeter call than a pigeons coo? Thanks for the smiles!

Thank you, all. And … I make no apologies for my anthropomorphism by way of American roots tunes. :)

What anthropomorphism? Better than anthropocentrism any day. :-)

I should rephrase that, CQ. I apologize for diminishing the pigeons with anthropocentric notions of ‘romance.’

Oh, so many memories! As a kid I spent thousands of hours (literally) watching behaviors like this from my pigeons. Fun clip, Ingrid.

Ron, I had the t.v. on in the background last night, and the Brady Bunch came on. At one point in the show, I happened to look over and saw that Peter Brady, in a bout of depression, was sitting in the park feeding pigeons. He also picked up and held a pigeon. It occurred to me that it had been quite a while since I’d seen a gentle, positive portrayal of pigeons in pop culture. They’ve been maligned so long now, and some attribute it to a concerted campaign by pest control companies.
